Συντρίμμια αεροσκάφους Ju52 βρέθηκαν στη θαλάσσια περιοχή του Μάλεμε στα Χανιά. Τα συντρίμμια βρίσκονται κοντά στην ακτή, διάσπαρτα σε ακτίνα 150 μέτρων.

Τα συντρίμμια προέρχονται από το Ju52 (φωτο) το οποίο είχε προσθαλασσωθεί στην περιοχή στη διάρκεια της Μάχη της Κρήτης.

Μετά τον πόλεμο το αεροπλάνο διαλύθηκε με αποτέλεσμα να έχουν απομείνει στην ευρεία περιοχή διάσπαρτα μικρά μέρη του αεροσκάφους.

The Ju 52/3m with a 19 meters length and wing area 110m2, was operated by the German Luftwaffe as a troop and cargo transport aircraft, medium bomber, could carry goods weighing two tons or 18 soldiers.
The Junker 52 in 17 variations, was the main transport aircraft of the Germans during WW II.
The Ju52 was used for dropping paratroopers in the Battle of Crete in 1941 , the first major paratroopers enterprise in history, and in the battle for the conquest of Leros in 1943.
It is estimated that in the Battle of Crete alone 370 aircraft were shot down.
During this period, 1941 – 1943, 175 aircrafts of Junker 52 units operating in Greece have been lost or destroyed.
