Rolls-Royce Merlin

Aviation-Arcaeology-logo

Aviation-Archaeology-Greece-ROLLS-ROYCE-MERLIN-60-AERO-ENGINE

Ο Rolls-Royce Peregrine 700 hp (520 kW) και ο Rolls-Royce Vulture 1,700 hp (1,300 kW) 42-litre (2,560 cu in) που αναπτύχθηκε λίγο πριν από τον πόλεμο προστέθηκαν στην γκάμα της εταιρείας.

During the Second World War Bristol’s most important aircraft was the Beaufighter heavy two-seat multirole aircraft, a long-range fighter, night fighter, ground attack aircraft, and torpedo bomber. It was used extensively by the RAF and Commonwealth air forces and by the USAAF. The Beaufighter was derived from the Beauforttorpedo bomber, itself a derivative of the Blenheim.

In 1940 a shadow factory was set up at Weston-super-Mare for the production of Beaufighters. Also an underground factory was built by Alfred McAlpine at Hawthorn in 1940 to accommodate the company’s experimental department which was working on a new engine for bombers and Beaufighters.

Junkers Motorenwerke AG

Aviation-Arcaeology-logo

Greek flagΗ εταιρεία Junkers Flugzeug und Motorenwerke A.G ιδρύθηκε το 1895 από τον Hugo Junkers.

enlish flagJunkers Flugzeug- und Motorenwerke AG (JFM), more commonly Junkers, was a major German aircraft manufacturer. It produced some of the world’s most innovative and best-known airplanes and aircraft engine over the course of its fifty-plus year history in Dessau, Germany. It was founded there in 1895 by Hugo Junkers, initially manufacturing boilers and radiators. During World War I, and following the war, the company became famous for its pioneering all-metal aircraft. During World War II the company produced some of the most successful Luftwaffe planes, as well as piston and jet aircraft engines.
